Beta Club

I've been in Beta Club since  I was in the 10th grade. We always done service around the school but this year we branched.  We recuited new members, sang Christmas carols at the nearby retirement home, and went to the state Beta Club Convention. I had so much fun this year with our group. I made new friends and had new experiences. I really am going to miss this club and the people in it.

Student Football Manager

     Being a football manager was something to experience. I had been with the program for two years and what a stressful but fantastic two years they were. I learned so much like how to be a good leader, how to manage my time, and how to be apart of something bigger than myself.  Although I never claimed it,  I was named head manager by my peers. My duties were to keep the peace between everyone, make sure jobs were getting done, find solutions to problems that would appear, and help any of the coaches with anything. I never desired a leadership title because I thought of us as a team, but somehow, over those two years, I became the person everyone came to when there was a problem or needed information. Everyone depended on me to be on point and I took it upon myself to do so because the football program was a serious matter to the coaches and players and as time went on it became just as important to me too.

     The responsibilities, the respect from others, and dependency from others helped me to become a better leader. I learned how to communicate more clearly to the team what needed to be done and how it needed to be done. We were able to get the job done and have close relationships. I also learned how to approach problems and get them solved in a timely manner. Game days are our busiest day and things could go wrong easily. I learned early on to be prepared for anything. If one thing went wrong, it would get really stressful but I learned how to not get worked up, plan a solution and get it done as soon as possible. Being a manager has helped me to be a better leader that people would want to follow. I know how to handle situations when things go wrong and I know how to communicate with others when I need things done. I've grown to love the football team (even though they were a bunch of smelly loud little boys), all of the coaches (even thougth they were difficult most of the time) and the manager team (even though the drama and personality differences made our job so much harder) greatly. We were like a family and I'm really going to miss my family.

Other clubs I'm involved in are;

Fellowship Christian Athletes

Tuesdays and Thursdays will never be the same without FCA. I first dicovered this club in the tenth grade and ever since then I would faithfully attend to hear great stories and sermons. It was a way for me to stay in touch with my spiritual self throughout my busy life. I really enjoyed the meaning of FCA and what it stood for. On some days it really seemed like the guest speaker was really speaking to me. I wouldn't be myself if I had never heard those sermons. I'm going to miss it greatly.
